Make Your Next Project Stand Out With Grille Ceiling And Wall Solutions
When designing a space, sometimes it’s not the focus of the room that makes the project feel complete, it’s what surrounds it. Grille Ceiling and Wall solutions by ASI Architectural strive to be that piece that ties the entire space together. Grille ceiling and wall panels are excellent visual design elements for great-looking ceilings and walls. These panels are at home in a simple public works building, or in an opera house. They not only provide visual excellence, but they have a wide variety of wood species options, as well as acoustical additions to increase the overall acoustical performance of a space.
These panels are modular, and can be installed linearly, or in a crosshatch pattern, and are simple to maintain and repair or replace if damage does occur. Learn more about some of the features of Grille panels, as well as the styles available, below.
Grille Ceiling And Wall Styles
At ASI Architectural, we focus not only on providing a superior product for architects and designers but providing one that has a variety of applications and styles for quality that can be used across many different projects. Grille ceiling and wall panels are no exception, offering many different styles of the solution itself, as well as acoustical add-ons and a variety of colors and wood species to select from. Here are a few of the different styles of Grille panels and some information about each.
- Backer: This option features acoustically absorbent material behind the wood-veneered Grille panels surface. This provides acoustical performance that is invisible to the casual passerby, making your project sound as good as it looks. These standard panel sizes can also be field cut to fit irregular shaped installations. This style of Grille attaches to HD 15”/16” T-bar grid with clips for 100% accessibility. In 12” modules, there are custom rail sizes and spacing available.
- Backer And Dowel: This option features similar acoustical properties to the Backer, but these Grille panels are factory-made in order to custom-fit the installations. This style has the ability to secure to larger rail sizes, allowing options no matter what project infrastructure is present. Additionally, the dowel in this style is visible when installed.
- Dowel: The Dowel style has the same visual options as the previously mentioned styles, but lacks the acoustical backer to provide sound absorption to a space. The Dowel still provides a wider range of rails that are able to be connected to, but the dowel is visible in this style.
- Notched Backer: This style utilizes the same acoustical backer as the Backer style, but instead of increasing what rails can be used via dowels, there are notched sections to fit the different rail sizes that can be customized via specification. Custom spacing is available in the 12” modules, and this style is secured to the T-Grid via screws.
- Tegular Lay-In: This style can be field cut to fit irregularly shaped installations. This style lays into an HD 15/16” T-grid which allows for 100% accessibility to the product and anything that is behind it. Custom rail sizes and spacing are available in the 23” modules. Additionally, this style can be fit with either 1” or 2” acoustical backers.
Appearance And Versatility
In addition to the available styles of the Grille wall and ceiling panels, architects and designers can customize these panels by wood species as well as look. As far as the visible parts of the modules that are not wood, any visible dowel or backer is painted black as standard. For rail options, the Grille can come in solid wood or veneer, on edge, or laid flat. This gives architects and designers the option on the look, feel, and visual texture of how the modular Grille panels lay in the ceiling.
As far as the wood species that can be featured on Grille wall and ceiling panels, there are many to choose from. Ash, Maple, Beech, Walnut, Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, Cherry, Natural Bamboo, and Caramelized Bamboo can come in either solid wood or veneer. When looking at the construction of the Grille panels themselves, there are even options there to customize. The core of the modules can be left as solid wood, particleboard or MDF, and Class A Fire Rated Particle Board or MDF.
Taking Care Of Your ASI Architectural Products
ASI Architectural is proud to only produce the highest-quality products for architects and designers across disciplines. We equip our products with a robust warranty that makes sure that products like Grille are covered for expected use and are meant to last decades. It is important, though, when installing Grille ceiling and wall panels that they are properly acclimated and cared for in order for the warranty to not be voided.
Acclimation is important, particularly in the Northern United States because the low atmospheric humidity typically causes more movement of wood products. ASI Architectural suggests that for acclimation, all products should be moved to the site installation area for a minimum of 72 hours prior to any installation activity. Make sure the space where the Grille panels are being installed is between 25-55% humidity, and the temperature of the installation site should be between 55-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the Grille has been moved to the site, the product can be left in the skid exactly as it is packaged.
As far as caring for Grille wall and ceiling panels, it is important to keep them away from moisture, and if the surface does come into contact with moisture, wipe it away immediately with a non-abrasive cloth. Prolonged exposure to moisture, sunlight, or abrasive cleaners all can void the warranty that the product comes with.
