Project Overview
The new Central Campus Building at Ford Motor Company’s headquarters reimagines the hybrid workplace as a central hub for collaboration, innovation, and community. Developed as part of Ford’s research and design campus transformation, the building is designed as an open, people-centered environment that supports connection across teams and disciplines. Flexible workspaces, social amenity areas, and advanced technology are organized to balance individual focus with teamwork, while daylight, outdoor views, and strong indoor-outdoor connections promote a healthy and engaging work experience. Surrounded by plazas, courtyards, paths, and gardens, the campus extends the workplace outdoors and establishes a new public-facing identity that reflects Ford’s future-focused approach to research, engineering, and innovation.
ASI’s Contribution
ASI Architectural contributed custom Western Red Cedar Grille ceiling panels throughout both the interior and exterior of the building, enhancing the warmth, character, and continuity of the design. A vast number of custom panels were crafted and installed, with eleven different grille sizes ranging from 2 feet to 11 feet. The project required truckloads of Western Red Cedar and presented unique challenges, particularly at the curved pavilions, where all cedar components were custom bent. Through expert design and fabrication, ASI delivered a tailored ceiling solution that complements the building’s architecture and unifies the campus experience.
