Project Overview
The Long Island Railroad Enhanced Station Initiative modernized a group of busy commuter rail stations across Long Island, including Bellmore, Brentwood, Deer Park, Merrick, Stony Brook, and Syosset. Completed in 2019, the remodels refreshed station buildings, platforms, and site elements while balancing contemporary passenger amenities with the character of each community. Upgrades included restored facades and canopies, improved interiors, new lighting, updated signage, accessibility enhancements, and technology features such as Wi-Fi, digital information displays, and charging stations – creating safer, more welcoming, and easier-to-navigate spaces for daily riders.
ASI’s Contribution
ASI Architectural supplied solid Red Oak ceiling systems across multiple Long Island Railroad station remodels, helping unify the passenger experience while responding to the unique conditions of each location. Our scope included both Grille panels and Linear wood ceiling planks, installed throughout station interiors and public circulation areas to introduce warmth, texture, and a durable natural material palette. In total, ASI provided 9,349 square feet of wood ceiling systems across Bellmore, Brentwood, Deer Park, Merrick, Stony Brook, and Syosset, showing how one product approach can create a cohesive look across multiple stations while fitting each station’s design.
