Project Overview

The Kohl Center’s $42 million expansion and renovation delivers a significant upgrade to both its footprint and functionality, adding a 55,000-square-foot, three-story addition over the existing loading dock and updating 41,000 square feet of interior space. The new addition enhances key programs – including academics, student-athlete support, sports nutrition, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and administrative operations – while the renovated areas modernize locker rooms, student-athlete dining, media and club spaces, and kitchen facilities to better serve the arena’s growing needs.

ASI’s Contribution 

ASI Architectural’s involvement in the Kohl Center expansion included supplying 1,796 square feet of Linear T&G wood ceiling and wall panels in solid ash, along with 690 square feet of Linear Alumiline ceiling panels in a clear anodized finish. These materials were installed throughout the new addition and renovated areas to enhance the interior design, combining the natural warmth of wood with the clean durability of aluminum. The result is a series of inviting, high-performance spaces that support student-athletes, staff, and visitors while meeting both the architectural vision and functional demands of the facility.
